about

This was written during the slumpteenth Covid lockdown, when we were all feeling pretty down and deflated, and when we missed seeing one another and hugging our families etc etc. It felt like a moment to sing together.

This was originally called "Sing! an anthem of hope," but Justin Roberts said this was his favourite tune on the record and that I should reallllly think about changing the title to "For the Joy of the Song."

I love Bahamas' Pink Strat album and feel like this has that in-the-pocket vibe.

Dedicated to the memory of Steve Parton.

lyrics

Sing for the love in your heart
Sing for the light
Sing for the hope that you hold
Sing for the joy of the song

Sing for the sun
Sing for the rain
Sing for the wind in the trees
Sing for the joy of the song

Sing for the day
Sing for the night
Sing for the wonder of life
Sing for the joy of the song
